Sunpeed Victory review — full carbon road bike with carbon wheels from $2,999. Beats Trek, Giant, Merida and Specialized on price for a complete carbon build. Darwin.
Let's be clear about what we're talking about here. The Sunpeed Victory Sport 105 Mechanical is a full carbon road bike — carbon frame, carbon fork, carbon integrated handlebar, carbon seatpost, and a 45mm carbon wheelset — for $2,999. Compare that to what Trek, Giant, Merida, or Specialized charge for a full carbon build with carbon wheels, and the Victory Sport doesn't just compete — it's in a completely different price bracket. This is the bike Darwin road riders have been waiting for, and it's in stock right now at Blue Cycles in Coconut Grove.
Sunpeed Victory Sport 105 Mechanical — $2,999
At $2,999, this is where the Victory range starts — and what a starting point. Full carbon everything: Sunpeed Victory carbon frame with 142mm thru-axle flat mount disc, carbon fork with 100mm thru-axle, ANV carbon integrated handlebar, Sunpeed carbon seatpost, and a Sunpeed ANV C45 45mm carbon wheelset with Pillar 24 straight pull spokes. The complete build is UCI approved and genuinely race-ready out of the box.
The drivetrain is Shimano 105 R7120 12-speed — 50-34T crank, 11-34T cassette — paired with Shimano 105 hydraulic disc brakes for confident stopping in all conditions. Tyres are Continental Ultra Sport 3 700x25C with TPU tubes. Weight is impressive for the price.
To put this in context: a Trek Émonda SL 5 (aluminium frame, carbon fork, Shimano 105 mechanical, alloy wheels) retails around $3,499–$3,999 in Australia. The Specialized Allez Sport (aluminium, Shimano Claris/Sora, alloy wheels) starts around $2,200. The Giant TCR Advanced 2 (carbon frame, Shimano 105, alloy wheels) sits around $3,800–$4,200. None of them give you a full carbon build with carbon wheels and carbon bars at $2,999. The Victory Sport does.
Sunpeed Victory Expert+ 105 Di2 — $3,999
Step up to $3,999 and you get electronic shifting — and the gap between this and what other brands charge for the same spec is even more dramatic. The Victory Expert+ 105 Di2 runs Shimano 105 Di2 R7170 24-speed fully wireless electronic shifting — the same groupset you'll find on bikes from the major brands at $5,500–$7,000 in Australia.
The frame is the Sunpeed Victory Expert carbon fibre, UCI approved, with full internal cable routing. Drivetrain: R7170 electronic shifters, R7150 front and rear derailleur, 105 R7100 50-34T crankset, 11-34T 12-speed cassette, Shimano CN-M7100 chain, Senicx T47 bottom bracket. Brakes are Shimano 105 Di2 R7170 hydraulic disc with RT54 rotors. Wheels are ANV C50 carbon disc rims with ANV 06A hubs and stainless steel spokes. Continental 700x30C foldable tyres. Finishing kit: ANV carbon integrated stem and handlebar, Sunpeed Victory carbon seatpost, ANV carbon hidden headset, ANV carbon saddle.
For comparison: Trek Domane SL 6 (carbon frame, 105 Di2, alloy wheels) retails around $6,500–$7,500. Giant Defy Advanced 1 (carbon, 105 Di2, alloy wheels) sits around $5,500–$6,500. The Victory Expert+ 105 Di2 at $3,999 comes with carbon wheels and a full carbon build at roughly half the price of comparable builds from the big brands. It's not a close contest.
Sunpeed Victory Expert+ Ultegra Di2 — $4,799
The pinnacle of the range. At $4,799, the Victory Expert+ Ultegra Di2 delivers a complete race-ready build that would cost $8,000–$12,000 from Trek, Specialized, Giant, or Merida — and in many cases, those bikes still come with alloy wheels. The Victory comes with ANV C50 carbon disc wheels standard.
Drivetrain is the full Shimano Ultegra Di2 R8170 24-speed — R8150 front and rear derailleurs, Ultegra R8100 50-34T crankset, R8101 11-34T 12-speed cassette, Shimano CN-M8100 chain, Senicx T47 bottom bracket. Brakes: Shimano Ultegra R8170 hydraulic disc with CL800 mid-lock 160mm rotors. The finishing kit is the full carbon package — ANV carbon integrated stem and handlebar, Sunpeed Victory carbon seatpost, ANV carbon hidden headset, and a carbon fibre ultra-light ergonomic 3D printed saddle. Available in S, M, L, XL, XXL.
A Trek Madone SL 6 Gen 8 (carbon, Ultegra Di2, carbon wheels) starts around $10,000–$12,000. Specialized Tarmac SL7 Expert (Ultegra Di2, carbon wheels) is $10,000+. The Victory Expert+ Ultegra Di2 at $4,799 is not a budget bike making compromises — it is a full carbon, full electronic, carbon-wheeled race bike at a price point that makes the established brands look very expensive.
Which Victory Is Right for You?
- Victory Sport 105 Mechanical ($2,999): Best first full-carbon road bike. Shimano 105 mechanical is reliable, easy to maintain, and exactly what most amateur racers and serious recreational riders need. The carbon wheels and carbon bars at this price are unmatched by any competitor.
- Victory Expert+ 105 Di2 ($3,999): For riders who want wireless electronic shifting and are doing 150km+ weeks or racing regularly. Di2 is transformative on fast group rides — precise, instant, no mechanical adjustment required. At $3,999 with carbon wheels, this is an extraordinary value proposition.
- Victory Expert+ Ultegra Di2 ($4,799): For serious racers, committed sportive riders, and anyone who wants the absolute best without a five-figure price tag. Ultegra Di2 is the groupset that pro-level riders use, and at $4,799 all-up with carbon wheels it's genuinely hard to justify buying from any other brand.
