SCOTT Spark RC SL 2026: The Ultimate XC Bike at $16,500 — Darwin

HMX SL carbon, 1,427g, Flight Attendant, SRAM XX SL, carbon-spoke wheels, Ceramic Speed — the 2026 SCOTT Spark RC SL. The best XC race bike available. Pre-order at Blue Cycles Darwin.

The 2026 SCOTT Spark RC SL at $16,500 is the ultimate expression of what a cross-country mountain bike can be. HMX SL carbon — the lightest, highest-modulus fibre Scott produces — with a frame weight of just 1,427 grams including the shock. RockShox Flight Attendant with the Race Day 3P damper. SRAM XX SL Eagle AXS Transmission with a Spider Power Meter. Syncros Silverton CF1 carbon-spoke wheels. Ceramic Speed bearings throughout. Titanium hardware at every contact point. This is the bike that Nino Schurter and Kate Courtney train and race on. It's now available at Blue Cycles Darwin.

HMX SL Carbon: Scott's Best

HMX SL is Scott's highest-grade carbon — ultra-high-modulus fibres that produce the stiffest, lightest frame in the Spark RC range. The complete frame with rear shock weighs 1,427 grams. To put that in context: most alloy XC frames weigh more than the entire front end of this bike. The Gen5 chassis includes Scott's adjustable geometry system (head angle adjustable via eccentric headset insert), Syncros Octopus Gen2 fully integrated internal routing for all cables and hoses, a BSA threaded bottom bracket, UDH hanger compatibility, and 12×148mm Boost rear spacing. Every bolt that can be titanium, is.

Flight Attendant + SRAM XX SL AXS + Spider Power Meter

Suspension is RockShox SID Ultimate Flight Attendant fork and RockShox SIDLuxe Ultimate Flight Attendant rear shock — both running the Race Day 3P damper managed automatically by the Flight Attendant accelerometer and crank sensor system. The drivetrain is SRAM XX SL Eagle AXS Transmission with a Spider Power Meter crankarm — the highest-tier version of SRAM's wireless drivetrain, paired with the XS-1299 cassette (10-52T) for a massive gear range with minimal weight penalty. Braking is SRAM Motive 4-piston hydraulic.

Syncros Silverton CF1: Carbon-Spoke Wheels

The SL ships on Syncros Silverton CF1 carbon-spoke wheels — 30mm internal, 24H, tubeless-ready, with an XD driver for the SRAM cassette. Carbon spokes eliminate the flex and mass penalty of steel or bladed alloy spokes, resulting in wheels that are measurably stiffer, lighter, and faster-accelerating. At this level of riding, the difference is real and felt on every acceleration and every corner.

The Value Case for $16,500

At $16,500, the Spark RC SL is the most expensive bike in the Blue Cycles Darwin range — and also, objectively, the best value at its tier. The Giant Anthem Advanced SL 0 with Flight Attendant, XX SL AXS, and carbon wheels is $18,499 — $2,000 more, with a lower-grade carbon frame and no titanium hardware. The Trek Supercaliber SLR 9.9 XX SL with comparable spec is approximately $20,000–$22,000 in Australia. The Spark RC SL outspecifies both for less money, starting with the HMX SL frame — the lightest XC race chassis available from any brand — and ending with carbon-spoke wheels and Ceramic Speed bearings that Trek and Giant charge significantly more to match.

Who Is the Spark RC SL For?

The SL is for the rider for whom weight, efficiency, and outright performance are the primary considerations. Competitive DORC racers, Category 1 XC riders, and triathletes who want the absolute best available bike for their discipline. It's also for the rider who simply wants the best — who knows that at this level of investment, the difference between the SL and the World Cup Evo ($15,000) is meaningful: a lighter frame, titanium hardware, and a higher-tier crankset power meter in a complete package that nothing else at the price can match.
