Ensure your tyres are inflated to the correct pressure and compress your brakes to ensure the mechanisms are working correctly. Inspect the chain for cleanliness and that it is properly lubricated and contains no kinks that can cause it to slip off the gears.

Lubrication prevents excessive deterioration due to friction and corrosion and keeps parts from locking up. Lube the moving parts then wipe off excess in the same order, so it has time to penetrate. Be careful because too much lubrication attracts dirt and debris which can cause wear.

Bolts that hold your bike together can wiggle loose over time which can cause damage and safety hazards. Ensure all bolts are tightened to the correct torque to prevent issues. Be careful not to over tighten because it can damage the components as well.
